Guest sentiment
A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"You can find the most delicious Japanese meals at this little spot on Chapel Street! If you’re like me and loves a good chazuke set, this one really hits the spot! The portion of eel on my ochazuke set was generous and the tamagoyaki was such a great paring! • Agedashi Tofu ($7) • Tako Karaage ($9) • Salmon Carpaccio ($18) • Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen ($20.8) • Unadon ($28) Set +$11 • Yuzu Iced Tea ($5.5) • Ginger Iced Tea ($5.5) The ambiance is cozy and calm, with retro Japanese decor that transports you to Japan!"
"We came at 5 when they just opened, the food is really good. We had a summer soba which was very refreshing, the ebi tempura is on point! Salmon carpaccio is also tasty. The yakitori was the only thing that we won’t recommend as it wasn’t what we had before."
"I went to a Japanese ramen restaurant. Of course, I had ramen, but I also ordered lotus root chips, prawn tempura, karaage, and onigiri—lots of everyday Japanese dishes. The staff were Japanese, and I really liked how polite and attentive they were. If I had to say one thing, I wish the flavors had a bit more depth—but overall, it was a nice experience."
"This is my second time here and I still love it! The atmosphere is nice, the music is great, and the staff are very friendly. Ordered the gyudon and spicy sweet chicken rice — both were so delicious. The rame was also nice ! Definitely coming back again!"
"Had the black sesame ramen and the curry noodles with chicken karaage — both were amazing. The black sesame broth was rich, creamy and full of flavour, and the karaage was perfectly crispy and juicy. Easily some of the best ramen and curry noodles I’ve had. Highly recommended!"
"we got their tonkotsu ramen ($18.80). the broth, simmered for 10 hours, was beautifully light yet comforting, with homemade toppings that tied everything together. upgraded to the ramen set for just $7 more, which was absolutely worth it. it came with my choice of onigiri, crispy juicy chicken karaage and pickled ginger. the spicy chicken ramen ($20.80) was an interesting twist. it came with a chilli sauce on the side (with a slightly oriental flavour) so you can stir in as much heat as you like, perfect for spice lovers! BUT!!!!! the true standout was the gyu (beef) tataki don ($27). hands down my favourite of the night. the beef tataki, drizzled with a savoury and tangy soy-onion sauce, was laid over rice with an egg yolk on top. every bite was creamy yet refreshing. the tuna tataki ($20) was another highlight, came with fresh slices of raw tuna paired with wasabi and a zesty yuzu dressing. we wrapped up with a couple of desserts, a silky yuzu pudding ($7) and matcha daifuku ice cream ($9). to wash it all down, they’ve got on-tap beers, like Orion ($10) and Suntory Premium Malt’s ($12)."
"Atmosphere is very warm and homey with the overhead lighting slightly dimmed and the music energetic but not too loud. The service was also very quick and attentive with our server noticing when our water jug was empty and replacing it without us having to ask. They also have a fun game to play involving their mascot character which results in winning a free dessert which I think is really rare nowadays with the rising costs of living, not only is it a fun way to engage with customers but it’s also incredibly generous. Would recommend this place especially the tonkatsu ramen!! They also have little toy cats everywhere which is so cute"
"Had an early dinner at Kaz Workshop with our two toddlers and it was fantastic. The food was fresh and full of flavour, with a solid variety of dishes to choose from. The ramen was rich and delicious, and the kids absolutely smashed the chicken skewers. The seared salmon donburi was perfectly cooked, and the gyoza had a beautiful thin skin and tasty filling. Great spot for a relaxed, family-friendly meal — we’ll definitely be back!"
